Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup mashed potatoes
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese (e.g., Gruyère or Parmesan)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Season with thyme, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat.
  4. Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly in a baking dish.
  5. Layer the mashed potatoes on top, smoothing them out with a spoon.
  6. Sprinkle the grated cheese evenly over the potatoes.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
